Fargo Park District Youth Golf Programs
The Discover Junior Golf Instructional Program teaches youth ages 5 – 15 the basics of golf in group lessons with a maximum of 6 to 1 participant-to-instructor ration. The six-week session runs June 9 to July 24, with the week of July 4 off. Participants need at least a golf bag, wood, iron, and putter (unless participating in Level 1 Active Start in which SNAG golf gear is provided).
Visit FargoParks.com for more information and to register.
Level 1 – Active Start (5-7 years of age)
Active Start is the entry level program designed for youth with little or no golf experience. The class will meet for 45 minutes once a week for six lessons. Using the oversized and bright colored SNAG (Starting New at Golf) equipment, the youth will be taught a simplified approach to learning the game of golf.
SNAG golf equipment will be provided for participants.
Level 1+ (ages 5-7)
Level 1+ introduces youth to the same fundamentals as Level 1 but using real clubs rather than SNAG equipment.
Clubs are available, but participants are encouraged to bring their own.
Level 2: FUNdamentals (ages 7-9)
FUNdamentals is the follow-up to Active Start and Level 1+. This level is designed for participants with or without previous golf experience.
Level 3: Learn to Play (ages 9-12)
Learn to Play is the follow-up to FUNdamentals. This level is designed for participants with or without previous golf experience.
Level 4: Learn to Play+ (ages 9 – 12)
Learn to Play+ helps participants build on their fundamentals, improving their full swing, short game, rules, etiquette, and course strategy through practice and team-based play.
Level 5: Play to Improve (ages 9 – 12)
Play to Improve is the follow-up to Learn to Play+. Participants in this program should already have solid fundamentals and desire to improve their game and possibly play competitively at the junior high or high school level.
