Edgewood Golf Park Dedication
FARGO, ND – (June 11, 2019) A project more than a year in the making at Edgewood Public Golf Course was completed on June 11 when the Fargo Park District officially dedicated the Rodney S. Webb Memorial Golf Park.
The new amenity at Edgewood Public Golf Course is now open to the public. The golf park consists of two practice areas. The first area includes a bunker to allow the golfer to practice bunker shots, as well as pitches and chips at distances of around 40 yards. The second area is larger and has various slopes to allow the golfer to practice putting from multiple distances and grades.
The new practice area allows golfers to practice any shot they may encounter on the greens at any of the Fargo Park District public golf courses or other courses in the area.
The golf park is officially named the Rodney S. Webb Memorial Golf Park in memory of U.S District Judge Rodney S. Webb of North Dakota. Joel Vettel, Fargo Park District Executive Director; Wade Webb, son of Rodney S. Webb; Betty Webb, wife of Rodney S. Webb and Greg McCullough, Edgewood Head Golf Pro spoke at the dedication event and shared the positive impact the golf park will bring to the community and the memory of Rodney S. Webb.
The project was made possible through the important private public partnership of the Webb Family, Monte and Scott Kjos of Comstock Development and the Fargo Park District.
“Creating new opportunities for people in the community to participate in outdoor activities is important to us” said Joel Vettel, Fargo Park District Executive Director. “We are incredibly excited about this practice area and can’t wait to see how it helps our community grow.”
This new golf park allows for the perfect area for individuals to practice, as well as bring the whole family out to work on their golf game.
“The Edgewood practice area is an excellent opportunity for golfers to practice, regardless of their skill levels” stated Greg McCullough, Head Golf Pro at Edgewood Public Golf Course. By opening the practice area, we hope golfers continue to develop a passion for the sport.
There is no cost to utilize the new golf park and no advanced registration is required. The challenges at this new amenity are the perfect warm up to a round of golf. As previously announced, Edgewood Public Golf Course is open for the season and now has 13 holes open for play. Purchase round of 9 and golf holes 1-4 at no additional cost.
